The anticipation has come to an end, and we're thrilled to unveil the winner of our Bike of the Future Design Competition............

On February 1st, 2024, we kicked off our very first competition aimed at school-age children, offering the chance to win a bicycle.

This competition was designed with multiple objectives in mind.  Firstly we wanted to encourage children to start thinking about cycling.  We all know that in order to make headway on our climate change pledges we need to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and opting for a bike over car certainly helps with this.  Additionally, cycling promotes physical and mental well-being among children, countering the prevalent sedentary lifestyle dominated by screen time.

Participants were tasked with envisioning the "Bike of the Future," tapping into their creativity.  Creative activities are a fantastic way to understand how young people see the world and how their ideas, which, though sometimes naive, can contribute meaningfully to environmental and social dialogues.  Also it's a whole lot of fun and we wanted children to enjoy the experience and come away feeling inspired.

Undeniably, the competition also served as a platform to spotlight our business. At Peddle My Wheels we are passionate about active and sustainable travel and want nothing more than to share this passion with our community in London (and beyond). All of our motivations come for a place of wanting to build a great community and spread our love for all things cycling related.

So now to the REALLY important part.  We are over the moon to present our winner:

So please put your hands together, press the like button, share with your friends or simply admire and smile.

This wonderful creation comes from Emilia (age 11) from Sutton

We loved the fact that Emilia's Bike wasn't based on a standard 2 wheel frame and that embraced the idea of multiple riders as well as having additional features to support this.

Well done Emilia!

So at this point also we want to say the biggest of "Thank You(s)" to everyone that entered, with a flurry of entries in the final week we received 112 brilliant designs total.  Everyone's designs offered something unique and wonderful so please be so proud of yourself if you took the time to enter our competition.

A special thank you to Edgegrove School, Discovery Primary, Fossdene Primary, St Thomas More Catholic Primary School, Alleyn’s Junior School and Gordon Primary for embracing our competition and involving your children.

Finally, we'd like to showcase a small selection of the entries we received. While we can't display them all here, stay tuned to our social media channels, where we will share as many as possible over the next few weeks.

To our wonderful community, thank you for inspiring us!
